Letter from the Head of School

Welcome to St. Petersburg Primary School — “where little dreams take flight”.

At St. Pete Primary, the warmth of our community nurtures each child and sparks a love of learning that carries them forward for years to come. From small, meaningful moments—like walking your child to their classroom door—to joyful traditions such as our schoolwide Halloween Costume Parade, every part of your family’s experience is thoughtfully designed to feel like a warm hug. When you join our school, you become part of a close-knit community and the St. Pete Primary family.

We believe play is at the heart of meaningful learning.  Play is a natural and essential way children grow, explore, and understand the world around them. While play is widely embraced in preschool, we made an intentional decision to carry it forward as we expanded into elementary school, preserving it as a cornerstone of our program. Today, serving students from one year old through fifth grade, our commitment to an intentional, student-centered, active, and academically challenging curriculum ensures that our legacy of play-based learning continues to flourish.

We approach learning with intentionality, thoughtfully designing lessons and daily experiences so that play supports each child’s development across every stage of learning.

While direct instruction is an important component of education, we believe students learn best when they are active participants in student-centered learning by engaging in discovery, asking questions, and exploring new ideas.

Learning at St. Pete Primary is dynamic and active. Physical movement, flexible seating, daily recess, and daily physical education are woven into the school day to support both academic engagement and overall well-being.

Our preschool and elementary academics are grounded in research-based best practice as well as a play-based mindset, ensuring that learning is meaningful, joyful, and driven by curiosity. No matter the age or grade level, you will find purposeful, engaging learning in action throughout our school.

We are proud of the vibrant program we have built and warmly invite you to discover the joyful learning and supportive community that defines St. Petersburg Primary School.

We look forward to welcoming your family!
